In 2025, Handi-Lift installed an Unenclosed Vertical Platform Lift at the American Eagle store located in the Garden State Plaza Mall. The customer chose the Ascension Protégé 5442 F for this project. This lift was designed to provide seamless wheelchair access between floor elevations equivalent to four steps, ensuring full accessibility for all customers entering the store. This model has a fixed gate at the upper landing, and a lower gate mounted to the platform. This lift has a straight-thru, 180-degree configuration for entry and exit. Although the Protégé is floor mounted with no pit, it does not require a ramp. This lift uses a hydraulic drive system and allows for 42 inches of maximum vertical travel. This project features a sleek black finish with plexiglass infill panels and plexiglass for both framed gates.
