Handi-Lift recently replaced a straight inclined platform lift at the outdoor entrance to the Michael Rosenfeld Gallery in Manhattan. We removed the existing Garaventa Xpress II wheelchair lift and installed the current generation of the same model. The main feature of this project is how the rail is mounted. The lift follows the angle of the stairs along a wall that is the same height as the upper landing. This means the lower half of the rail is wall mounted while the upper half is tower mounted with custom brackets. For this project, we used stainless steel towers and wireless call stations for a cleaner look. The lift is also equipped with a battery backup. The platform is stored at the lower level. The lift and all the mounting hardware are painted in silver moon to match the building.
